At BSB, we believe that fire safety isn’t just about meeting regulations — it’s about shaping them. With the recent appointment of David Fitzpatrick as Managing Director, we’re increasing our commitment to collaboration with his extended experience with innovation and integrity across the industry.
As Chair of the CIBSE Fire Safety Working Group, David plays a vital role in bringing together voices from across engineering, manufacturing, design, and compliance to ensure that building safety is informed by real-world experience, evolving risks, and evidence-based standards.
Most recently, David contributed to an industry article highlighting that gypsum-based systems may be wrongly specified for smoke shafts in high-rise buildings — noting that such systems are not tested under pressure and leakage conditions that often occur during a fire. It’s these kinds of insights that drive meaningful improvements in how buildings are specified and protected.
We’re proud to be active members of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) and an advocate for coordinated action in the built environment. Through extensive collaboration with CIBSE, ASFP, Tier 1 contractors, ductwork contractors, specifiers, and global partners, we ensure that fire safety isn’t approached in isolation.
From product testing and performance to compliance with new legislation — we are at the forefront of what matters.
All BSB Fire and smoke control products are manufactured in the United Kingdom and subjected to rigorous third-party testing and certification protocols designed to ensure full compliance with and exceedance of the requirements of the Fire Safety Act.
This approach is not limited to statutory adherence; it is intended to provide assurance to fire safety professionals, designers, installers, and distributors at every stage of the process — from initial design through to final delivery.
Whether your specifying dampers for a high rise development or seeking expert insight on compliance for our products, BSB is more than just a supplier – were your technical partner in passive fire protection and smoke control.

As we look to the future, BSB is entering an exciting new chapter.
We’re continuing to invest in research and development, with new product innovations underway — designed to meet the evolving needs of the built environment.
We remain deeply committed to collaboration with fire protection bodies through ongoing talks, exhibitions, awards, and an enhanced CPD programme for industry professionals.
Locally, we’re strengthening ties with education establishments and community organisations, helping shape the next generation of building services talent.
We’re excited to launch our “BSB: In Conversation” video series — offering an exclusive glimpse into the people, culture, and strategy shaping our future.
Our first episode features David sharing his vision for sustained innovation, technical leadership, and industry collaboration.
