BSB Engineering Services will host a live technical webinar on Thursday 22 October 2026, examining the considerations behind selecting insulated and non-insulated fire dampers and the role of fire strategy in informed specification.

Titled “Damper Specification Selection: Insulated or Non-Insulated – and Why It Matters,” the webinar will be led by BSB Commercial Director Nygel Humphrey, with a special guest from the construction industry due to be announced shortly.

The session will explore an increasingly important question for consultants, specifiers and building services professionals: does selecting a higher fire resistance classification automatically result in a better or safer specification?

Rather than approaching damper selection from product classification alone, the webinar will consider how the requirements of the fire strategy, application and supporting construction should inform the specification.

Topics will include the distinction between E, ES, EI and EIS classifications, when insulation performance may be relevant, test evidence and supporting construction, as well as the potential implications of over-specification for installation, coordination, programme and cost.
